Rob McLain is a partner in the firm.  His practice includes both civil and criminal matters, with an emphasis on litigation.


Mr. McLain began his legal career in the Washington, D.C. office of a New York-based international law firm, where he was a member of the business fraud litigation group.  While there, Mr. McLain gained experience working on both criminal and civil business fraud investigations and litigation matters, for both corporate and individual clients, and advised clients on computer security and related compliance issues.  Since returning to his hometown of Sarasota and joining the firm in 2010, Mr. McLain has represented both individuals and companies in a broad array of matters.  He has experience representing commercial clients in both a litigation and an advisory capacity. Mr. McLain has represented individuals in a variety of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, medical and dental malpractice, sexual harassment, probate litigation, contract disputes, business disputes, and tort cases.  In his criminal law practice, Mr. McLain has represented clients accused of DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed contracting, battery, fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy, money laundering, and wire fraud.


Mr. McLain earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida, majoring in philosophy and minoring in English.  Prior to his career as an attorney, Mr. McLain worked for several years in the IT department of an AMLAW 100 law firm, and, subsequently, a computer forensics firm.  He has been published on the subject of computer searches and seizures under the Fourth Amendment.


Mr. McLain is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the George Mason University School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor of the George Mason Law Review.
